satis&fy delivers Full-Service Package for the NRW SPD Regional Party Conference
The North Rhine-Westphalian Social Democrats, or NRW SPD for short, held the party’s regional conference in the Dortmund Westfalenhalle on February 26 and 27. A top priority on the agenda was to nominate the NRW SPD chairperson as the top candidate for the state election on May 9, 2010. Seeking to present an engaging stage, premium sound reinforcement, and top-quality video images, the agency Gorol & Partner tasked satis&fy AG Werne to provide the full package of audio, lighting, video, and set design services.
satis&fy rolled into Dortmund with three and a half semitrailers of equipment two days before the political convention was to commence. At the height of preparations, the company deployed a crew of 50 to gear up the big hall for the event. The company had coordinated seating plan and mapped out the floor space early. Media interest was considerable, so satis&fy was also asked to provide the equipment and interfaces necessary to broadcast the party convention nationwide.
The project’s centerpiece was the stage. Designed and built by satis&fy, it extended across the full breadth of the hall, spanning just under 30 meters. The company bent lightweight metal bars to form a 3D frame, covering it with red stretch fabric to fashion a backdrop. This created a vivid mural fronted by an over-sized red die featuring the SPD logo. The stage was divided into two sections. The seating for the party’s executives, candidates, and federal chairman Sigmar Gabriel was on the left. A separate red stage with the SPD rostrum on the right provided a platform for fiery speeches.
For the Werne-based technical specialists of satis&fy, in the neighboring Westfalenhalle is their home turf. And that home-game advantage extends to the cooperation with the agency Gorol &Partner, an alliance that dates back to the 2001 launch of satis&fy Werne. “We work very well with the agency because we have done so for such a long time," says satis&fy project manager Dirk Holzhäuser-Herz. “We have also teamed up with the SPD on several occasions. This experience is particularly helpful when the task entails designing an entirely new stage, as is the case here." The representatives of the NRW SPD delved deeply into the details of set design during the conceptual phase, and were delighted to approve the proposals. This is the way things get done in North Rhine-Westphalia – by pulling together as a team and working together in a spirit of trust.
The first day of political debates and voting gave way to an evening of festivities. The BVB Lounge hosted 900 invited guests. satis&fy again served as a full-service technical support provider, conjuring the desired atmosphere with select décor, lighting, and sound reinforcement. But the evening’s most spectacular visual was the fantastic view of the brightly lit Borussia stadium.
