Cult Label Levi Strauss opens Frankfurt Outlet

satis&fy stages Opening Event and After-Show Party

Levi Strauss opened a store in downtown Frankfurt on March 17 – finally, as fans of the label might say. satis&fy designed and executed the lighting, audio, and video presentation for the shop opening and after-show party.

The cult jeans brand Levi’s is busy setting up big outlets in many German cities. It recently opened a store in Frankfurt, which is also home to the corporate group’s German headquarters. Customers can now shop for Levi’s jeans and accessories on three floors in the heart of the city at Rathenauplatz 1A. The denim company hosted a shop opening and after-show party to celebrate the occasion. With the label’s trademark understated look setting the tone for the festivities, both events were hip and stylish affairs.

Tasked to orchestrate an event that captures and celebrates the brand spirit, the satis&fy crew set out to conjure a fitting party scenario. A team of satis&fy technicians stacked 50 vintage tube monitors in the new outlet’s big shop window to create an eye-catching video installation. A video jockey, or VJ for short, streamed images and clips to these monitors. Animated sequences, vivid colors, mirror balls, dancing feet, and Levi’s products were the protagonists of the video performance. The installation was a classic case of simple means used to great effect. The shop’s no-nonsense, streamlined styling was underscored with mood-enhancing ambient lighting on all floors and subdued background music wafting down to the ground floor from the console of the Fagget Fairys DJ team on the second floor.

The after-show party took place at Stephanstrasse in an abandoned designer furniture store. Echoing the distressed vibe of fashionable jeans, the un-renovated venue was a perfect match for the used, worn, and vintage look that Levi’s embodies. The satis&fy experts came up with a minimalist ambient lighting scheme, bathing the big, empty foyer in blue and red, Levi’s trademark colors. The same combination of lights shimmered in the top floor. Some 250 invited guests were to take the escalator up to this party zone and enjoy the lights and sounds celebrating this occasion. Twice many visitors showed up, making it indeed a full house.

To lend the enormous room a more intimate atmosphere and conjure the desired club ambience, satis&fy installed room dividers and partitions to create booths and lounges. The crew set up a four-by-four-meter stage and a PA for the Danish band Fagget Fairys & The Dragon Twinz, which treated the audience to trippy electronic music. Audio and lighting engineers supported the live act and the DJ. After the band wound up its set, the DJ kept guests grooving on the venue’s dance floor until well after midnight. What a fitting reception for the Levi’s shop team in Frankfurt.
