Greens go even greener with satis&fy

satis&fy designs a reusable, modular stage

The Greens convened at the Hessian regional party congress in the Marburger Technologie- und Tagungszentrum on November 14. The agenda was to elect the state party chairperson, and discuss the role of the Greens in the five-party system and the local elections in 2011. True to the event’s motto, which translates roughly to Keep Going Green, the party managed the impressive feat of putting on a convention that generated virtually no waste. The revamped stage of the Hessian Greens also created quite a buzz.

satis&fy AG Deutschland designed and built the “green” stage. A production company based in Karben and specializing in event technology and exhibition design and construction, satis&fy had won over Kai Klose, regional manager of the German Green party, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, with a persuasive proposal for a sustainable stage free of barriers and readily accessible by wheelchair. “We made the stage a modular system so it can easily be reused for other events, without requiring a lot of manpower,” notes Marcus Stadler, head of the set design unit at satis&fy Karben. The two-part backdrop was made of high-quality aluminum sections. One side was featured a reusable digital print, the other was covered in a washable green fabric. According to the set design specialist, the backdrop’s lightweight components make it is easy to erect for future applications. It also requires less space and lightens the load during transport. Made of light polystyrene, the federal party’s 3D logo is equipped with countersunk magnets enabling multiple uses in diverse applications.

Sustainability also figured prominently in the lighting scheme and floor covering. Energy-saving lamps and LEDs were used exclusively for the former. This was the company’s first opportunity to roll out a B1-certified organic carpet made of corn starch. It is fully recyclable, and satis&fy collects and returns it directly to the producer. A ramp integrated into the platform affords wheelchair access to the rostrum, a custom design crafted by satis&fy especially for the event. A touch of a button raises and lowers this height-adjustable rostrum anywhere from 80 to 130 cm. Compliant with the DIN standard and controlled by a microprocessor, it has since been added to satis&fy’s pool of rental equipment. “We are pleased that our set design has helped demonstrate how green the Greens truly are,” says Stadler, commenting on the positive feedback from ranks of the Greens and many other sources.

satis&fy AG Deutschland has earned a top spot among European providers of event technology with its ability deliver a one-stop solution. This end-to-end offering encompasses lighting, audio, video, presentation, and stagecraft technology and services. The production company also constructs exhibition stands, and offers set, graphic, and 3D animation design services, as well as furniture rentals. Its equipment and materials pool is one of Europe’s largest. The event service provider’s holistic approach and full-service offering, all from a sole source, are among its greatest strengths. Headquartered in Karben, the enterprise employs more than 240 people. It maintains further branches in the Westphalian town of Werne and, since 2006, in Berlin. A subsidiary company operates in the Netherlands.
