ISH 2007 Trade Fairs

ISH is the leading international trade fair for bathroom, building, energy, air-conditioning technology and renewable energies.

satis&fy was called upon to work on the technical part of an interactive light and video installation at this worldwide trade fair. The initial idea for the installation was developed by the agency “echo ))) kommunikation im Raum.” Then, Mainfeld GbR and MESO Digital Interiors developed the design and the software concept.

The centerpiece of satis&fy’s installation was a 350cm x 130cm table. This table provided the surface for a soft-edged projection by two Panasonic PT-D7700 projectors (each installed inside the ceiling).

In order to turn the table’s projection area into a big interactive multi-touch display, the table and its immediate surroundings were tracked with a high resolution infrared camera. The tracked image was processed by the software developed by MESO and transformed into aesthetic animations and images that were then projected onto the table by the two PT-D7700 projectors

The approximation to the table and gestures of the visitors influenced the projection and resulted in a variety of visualizations.

Another component of the complete interaction, was to illuminate the whole room. To achieve this goal, a total of 42 LED Expolite Powerstick ELP 60 / ELP 80 were invisibly installed in a gap between the wall and ceiling. The LEDs changed the colour of the room.
