Live Earth 2007 Hamburg
The biggest worldwide concert called together to solve the climate crisis, Live Earth was held in Hamburg, Germany and satis&fy was there. Our event production company was responsible for the sound in the stadium as well as the handover of all sound-signals to the broadcast vans.
Three and a half trailers full of equipment for the PA-system, monitoring and consoles were shuttled to Hamburg. With 20 bands performing over 9 hours, satis&fy’s biggest challenge was the handling of all the logistics. Each act had to perform on-time – delays were not an option. Only performers Shakira and Yusuf Islam had the possibility for a sound-check – all other bands had blind-checks.
In the start-up phase leading up to the concert all requirements had to be clarified ‘en detail.’ Therefore, an exact input-list was prepared. Three audio mixing desks were used:
- One for the performing band
- One stand-by desk for the following act
- One prepared for the upcoming band
To shorten the time between the different bands’ acts, satis&fy organized a ‘band production line’ backstage. During the performances individual roll-risers were prepared in that line. Drums, further backline, and microphones were wired and finalized. After an exact line-check of all channels the risers were in stand-by position to roll out on stage. This guaranteed an accurate run of the show. For this portion alone, eight sound technicians and a dozen stage hands were busy backstage.
With a two-day set up, a tight show day and a following night-shift for the tear down, the satis&fy crew of 20 hard-working professionals was proud to contribute to the success of Live Earth.
