Rolling Out the Red Carpet for Sustainability
satis&fy makes it a triple play, again providing technical support for the third German Sustainability Day event
The production company satis&fy AG Deutschland was retained for the third year running to provide equipment, set, and design services for the German Sustainability Day and the gala German Sustainability Award show. 1,300 invited guests convened in Düsseldorf’s Maritim hotel on November 26 to attend the event. The congress and awards presentation focused on trends, challenges, and milestones in sustainable development, as well as companies with exemplary environmental practices. The Düsseldorf-based agency coment GmbH organized and hosted the event.
Exemplary eco-friendly equipment
Reprising successful performances in the preceding years, satis&fy staged an impressive event with sustainability fixed firmly in mind. The production company furnished powerful GLP Impressions RGB 120 RZ Zoom lighting fixtures, among other gear. These units consume very little electricity. “We’re constantly upgrading our equipment pool, which puts us in the fortunate position of being able to make a small but meaningful contribution to a climate-friendly event," notes project manager Klaus Casimir. satis&fy had also deployed resource-sparing gear at the 2008 and 2009 events.
A green stage
This environmentally-correct approach encompassed more than merely equipment: Eager to minimize post-event waste, the company deployed mostly rental fixtures and furnishings for specialty applications. The speaker lectern, made for the first awards ceremony three years ago, was reused again. The satis&fy crew rolled out some 100 square meters of the same fully recyclable organic carpet that debuted last year. The company also factored sustainable, eco-friendly considerations into the set design equation. As in the previous year, the full-service event technology provider used a 15.3-by-5.30-meter backdrop. It featured a combination of digital prints and four screens of different sizes for projections of live footage, business charts, and clips. The digital prints provided a 13-square-meter backdrop for the speakers.
A winning concept
Sustainability also figured prominently in the stage setup for celebrity guest Robin Gibb’s appearance. An LED wall comprising 108 satis&fy LED Sticks 25 replaced the right half of the stage during the singer’s set. The event’s green concept had won satis&fy over at the 2008 premiere, prompting the company to sponsor some of the material.
satis&fy AG Deutschland has earned a top spot among European providers of event technology with its ability deliver a one-stop solution. This end-to-end offering encompasses lighting, audio, video, presentation, and stagecraft technology and services. The production company also constructs exhibition stands, and offers set, graphic, and 3D animation design services, as well as furniture rentals. Its equipment and materials pool is one of Europe’s largest. The event service provider’s holistic approach and full-service offering, all from a sole source, are among its greatest strengths. Headquartered in Karben, the enterprise employs more than 260 people. It maintains further branches in the Westphalian town of Werne and, since 2006, in Berlin. A subsidiary company operates in the Netherlands.
