satis&fy heads to Harlem’s Rucker Park

The Karben-based production company supports New York’s Nike Basketball Festival

The FIFA World Cup is over and the next sports event is already approaching. The FIBA World Championship basketball tournament is set to begin in late August in Turkey. To whet fans’ appetite for basketball and the coming world championship, the first World Basketball Festival will take place in New York on August 12 through 15. Initiated by the US sporting goods manufacturer Nike, the event is to be reprised every two years. Its agenda is packed with exhibition games and scrimmages involving the world’s best basketball teams from Russia, France, China, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and the USA, a tournament that pits the New York boroughs against each other, and many workshops for fans of the sports. Top international music acts will also perform at the event.

The Hessian production company satis&fy AG Deutschland from Karben will also be in on the action. The company, which provides event technology and designs and delivers exhibition stands, has been tasked to manage all the equipment and logistics at the legendary open-air basketball courts of Harlem’s Rucker Park, one of the four-day festival’s prime locations. The enterprise has supported Nike at conferences, dealer conventions, fairs, and events worldwide for 17 years.

A team of ten satis&fy specialists headed to Manhattan on August 5 to begin preparing for the basketball extravaganza. The Karben-based crew readied Rucker Park for the festival with up to 130 local technicians and helpers assisting. The tasks were many and diverse, including setting up storage rooms, constructing bleachers, pitching tents, putting toilets in place, erecting fences, coordinating the technical infrastructure such as power supply and air-conditioning equipment, and rolling out cables throughout the venue. The company also produced some 400 square meters of graphic artworks and laid original NBA wood flooring for the tournament. The support package included lighting, sound, and video equipment as well as two LED trailers. The crew had geared up for the event in Karben in early January. As soon as the festival ended, the team began tearing down the equipment, accomplishing the task in record time.

Nike and satis&fy have worked together for many years. The enterprise had supported mainly Nike’s European headquarters at events around the world, and its services to the US headquarters were limited to events outside the USA. Recently the event specialist began staging events in the sporting goods manufacturer’s native country. For CEO Dirk Vennemann, this confirms that the long-standing cooperation continues to bear fruit.

In June, satis&fy specialists had also deployed stateside to implement the sporting goods manufacturer’s analysts’ conference. “Evidently our one-stop solution offering is also succeeding in the USA, the mother country of events," says Vennemann.

satis&fy AG Deutschland has earned a top spot among European providers of event technology with its ability deliver a one-stop solution. This end-to-end offering encompasses lighting, audio, video, presentation, and stagecraft technology and services. The production company also constructs exhibition stands, and offers set, graphic, and 3D animation design services, as well as furniture rentals. Its equipment and materials pool is one of Europe’s largest. The event service provider’s holistic approach and full-service offering, all from a sole source, are among its greatest strengths. Headquartered in Karben, the enterprise employs more than 240 people. It maintains further branches in the Westphalian town of Werne and, since 2006, in Berlin. A subsidiary company operates in the Netherlands.
