satis&fy Provides Lights, Sound and Smoke for Mayday 2008
25.000 techno-, house- and rave-disciples gathered to dance for 15 hours at the biggest indoor rave party worldwide. Held at the Westfalenhalle in the city of Dortmund, “Reflect Yourself” was the motto of this year’s Mayday event.
This 17th annual Mayday event featured more than 50 artists, DJs and live performers appearing on several floors. Some of the world-famous dance-floor, electro- and techno-artists on hand included Sven Väth, Paul van Dyk and Westbam.
Event agency I-MOTION contacted satis&fy to provide their technical perfection and “driving power” for the beats on the main floor of this internationally acclaimed indoor event. For several days ahead of time, the company’s specialists unloaded more than 12 trailers with the equipment needed to set up 100 tons of lighting, audio, laser and video equipment in several halls.
Some of the production highlights included using:- Eight 12.000 ansilumen HD data projectors to project onto eight screens with a total of 192sq m surface.
- 220 liter fog fluids to create impenetrable wafts of heavy fog.
- A newly acquired line array system by Canadian manufacturer, Adamson, for state-of-the-art audio amplification.
- More than 140sq m of mirrors that were extended upstage in the arena along with 20 laser systems, 350.000 watt high-tech lighting fixtures and 800m LED-sticks.
“The enthusiasm among this year’s attendees at the ‘mother of all raves’ was unprecedented. With 25,000 participants, the organizer posted a record attendance. His conceptual design of the event was thereby reconfirmed meaning a promising future for the continuation of Mayday,” reported Jörn Busch, satis&fy’s project manager. “We look forward to supporting the organizer at future events. Because, in spite of long nights, the Mayday event was great fun for the entire staff.”
