satis&fy Transforms Gym Into a Lounge at Winter Olympic Games in Torino 2006
During the 2006 Winter Olympics, NIKE provided a lounge, not only for their athletes to find some peace, but for the media to enjoy as well. The gym at the Centre Universitario Sportivo was selected as the location in Torino.
To create a different environment in the gym, in addition to installing railings for load-in platforms and laying down wood floors, satis&fy treated the walls (from the floor to ceiling) with white curtain-like fabric. The room was divided into several areas using half translucent banners and was furnished with high quality lounge furniture, custom built counters and dining tables. Several games were also set up as entertainment for NIKE’s guests. Athletes’ images were projected onto the translucent banners in a programmed loop that was easily updated on site. Theatrical lighting in each area enhanced the overall design concept.
In order for guests to watch the Olympic games on-site, several 50” plasmas floated in front of the fabric walls throughout the room. To fulfill the request for multilingual coverage of the events, a temporary television system was installed, which was fed by several sources.
In addition to the lounge area, another space was completely transformed into a press room where press conferences and interviews could be conducted easily with selected athletes.
“Passion lives here” was not only the slogan of the 2006 Olympic games, it was the concept satis&fy integrated into the planning and execution of NIKE’s hospitality lounge in Torino.
