The 2010 Ernst Schneider Award Ceremony

satis&fy stages the German business community’s journalism awards ceremony

The German Chamber of Industry and Commerce presented the Ernst Schneider Award for 39th time on the evening of October 12 in its Frankfurt office building. The award recognizes excellence in radio, press, and TV business journalism, with honors going to people and organizations that help readers, listeners, and viewers better understand complex issues. satis&fy AG Deutschland (satis&fy) delivered premium technical and interior design services to suit the occasion. The Karben-based crew furnished lighting, audio, and video equipment, set up bleachers, constructed the stage, and designed the set.

The company delivered two trailers of gear to the IHK building, all of which had to be hauled up to the second floor in a passenger elevator. It took a crew of about 30 two days to set up the equipment. The most prominent fixture for the 400 invited guests to see was a three-part 70-square-meter stage and two 30-square-meter backdrops with integrated video screens in 16:9 format. Another eye-catching feature was a bar-like counter that served as a talk prop. Featuring a backlit 3D design and made of plexiglass with polished edges, the counter is 2.4 meters wide and a meter high from the base. The company’s in-house designers, carpenters, and electricians teamed up to create the custom countertop and an IHK stage logo in 3D letters specifically for this event. The designers provided the blueprint for the lettering. The carpenters then shaped the letters using five-millimeter color plexiglass, and built and painted the MDF base to the customer’s specifications. The base was equipped with LEDs to conjure evocative lighting effects. The countertop is made of a 20-millimeter acrylic glass pane with polished edges all around. The crew at the Karben workshops had very little time to build the counter because the decision to go with this custom design came just a week before the event was to take place. Constructing the counter in just three days was a tall order to fill, but three designated satis&fy crew members got the job done. satis&fy project manager Christine Dietz attributes this success to the excellent teamwork among the various craftspeople, the staff’s dedication, and the good relationships with outside suppliers. A round stage and bleachers with two levels were also installed. satis&fy provided conventional stage lighting with Selecon Pacific Profiles and d&b systems for sound reinforcement.
