Into the New Year with Vorwerk Kobold
Many hearts – one team: So went the motto of the 2011 kick-off convention staged by Kobold, one of the most successful independently operating business entities in the Vorwerk Group. The two-day conference and closing evening soiree took place in Frankfurt’s Hotel Interconti and the event location K39 in neighboring Offenbach. 400 Vorwerk employees made their way to the city on the banks of the Rhine River to get in gear for the new sales year. The Essen-based agency for live communication eventage brought satis&fy AG Deutschland (satis&fy) on board to plan and set up the event’s stage, lighting, audio, and video equipment.
An evening full of impulses: That was motto for the evening event on February 10 in the Offenbach venue K39. The production company satis&fy certainly supplied inspired technical support and decorative accents. The crew of 25 satis&fy specialists transformed the hall into a setting fit for a party. It rolled out four portable screens and eight LED monitors. An HD Catalyst media server served to control the video images provided by Vorwerk and deliver them to the LED and fabric screens. Comprising 224 modules of satis&fy LED Sticks 25, the LED screens also showed an animated clip of the enterprise logo pulsing like a beating heart. Four DLP/DMP video projectors were used for the other screens. The lounge area was cordoned off with curtains that opened later in the evening.
Vari-Lite spots and ARRI Fresnels lit the two stages, hall, foyer, and lounge area. Battery-powered LED lamps from GDS supplied outdoor lighting. The company deployed two d&b audiotechnik PAs. A flown line array comprising six T10 units on each side provided speech reinforcement for the six-square-meter speaker platform. Q1 and Q-Sub systems were set up next to the 18-square-meter main stage for the act providing the evening’s entertainment, Bubble Beatz.
satis&fy was also tasked to supply rental furniture, including numerous bar and bridge tables, bar stools, lounge armchairs, and cube stools. The company sourced this furniture from its rental pool and from the event outfitters partyrent and MMS. The stage was decorated with string curtains. The customer also asked for a Karaoke system and DJ equipment, which the company was happy to provide.
“It was impossible to pull right up to the hall with large trailers, so we had to divvy up all the gear to four 7.5-ton trucks and make several trips,” notes satis&fy project manager Oliver Heyde describing the problems face while ramping up for the event. However, the satis&fy headquarters isn’t far from the venue, so setting up and tearing down the gear was pretty much business as usual.
satis&fy was also retained to provide lighting, sound, and video equipment and construct a 27-square-meter stage for the daytime event held in the Hotel Interconti’s Theater Hall.
