satis&fy Supports "German Sustainability Day 2008"

Karben-based technical service provider promotes sustainability by offering economical LED-lamps instead of conventional stage lighting

Karben – satis&fy AG Deutschland (satis&fy), one of Europe’s leading enterprises in event and media technology, has been chosen to provide the overall technical services for what is being called “German Sustainability Day 2008.” The satis&fy team was responsible for supplying the event with camera and projection technology, stage building and realization of the set design.

On December 5th Germany’s most sustained politicians, companies and prominent speakers met during the event, held in the Maritim Hotel Düsseldorf. A number of talks on creative engagement, social fairness, protection of the environment and exemplary management were held. This all-day event was under the auspices of the Federal President Horst Köhler.

“satis&fy is doing what it can to support the sustainability initiative. One example is the company’s utilization of energy-saving and environmentally-friendly LED lamps. Another example was the creation of a speakers’ lectern that, because it incorporates a sustainable design, will be reusable for other events in the future,” stated satis&fy’s founder Nico Ubenauf. “In this industry, for an event company to create and build their own furnishings is considered an exception rather than the rule. By using custom-made products, we ensure that these furnishings do not end up as waste later on. We can use them over and over again at other events and functions.”

With regard to reducing energy consumption, satis&fy is also a front-runner in the event industry. “In particular, technical service providers are known for using a lot of energy when organizing big events,” stated Ubenauf. “For years we have been making the effort to reduce our energy consumption. For instance, at one of our photovoltaic installations, we produce our own power. It is one of the biggest installations in middle Hesse covering a voltage potential up to 60.000 watts.”

Environment-friendly wood
For those who attended the December sustainability event, many good ideas were provided. The team at satis&fy felt the event confirmed the growing importance for companies to work in an ecologically effective way. “Using almost 3600 meters of wood per month, satis&fy is currently working on a new sourcing strategy that will result in the ongoing purchase and use of environmentally-friendly woods. This makes our company one of only a few providers on the market that can offer environment-friendly FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood,” explained Ubenauf. “In addition, we’re reviewing all the other commonly-used materials (i.e. fabric, synthetics, metals, etc.) we incorporate in our projects and considering the environmentally-friendly alternatives to those.”
