Location Award 2012
Germany’s best event locations were honored for the third time on September 8 at a gala event held in Berlin’s Ullstein hall. More than 600 movers and shakers in the event and public relations industries attended the award ceremony, and headed shortly after to the Axel-Springer-Passage to party to the tunes of Düsseldorf-based band, FresMusicLive.
Three of the ten awards bestowed by Locationportale GmbH in 2012 were for best Design Location, Mobile Location, and Historic Location. Ballots were cast online to nominate the venues. A jury of experts then picked the winners.
satis&fy cosponsored the event for the third year running—furnishing lighting and audiovisual equipment to the meeting and convention center. The company also worked closely with the organizers at Locationportale GmbH and other sponsors to design and build the stage, set, and scenic props. Uwe Buhrdorf, general manager of the Berlin satis&fy subsidiary, was the jury member in charge of the Sustainability and Innovation category. Buhrdorf presented the award to the Berlin location Malzfabrik—a former malt house. “It not only puts a premium on creativity and culture, but also on sustainability. The venue is taking small but resolute steps that are environmentally friendly and ecologically sound, thereby setting an example and providing inspiration for others. That convinced us,” says the branch manager in regards to summing up the jury’s decision.
