Powerful sound for Hanover’s Expo Plaza
For three weekends in a row, Hanover hosted thousands of visitors for a hopping happening at the Expo Plaza. The earth-shaking beats came courtesy of satis&fy AG’s L’Acoustics PA, the same rig that had been used in recent years for the NDR2 Plaza Festival. The promoter, Hannover Concerts, decided that this year it would remain on site to pump out the tunes for the gigs to follow.
satis&fy ended up not only providing powerful sound for the well-established NDR2 Plaza Festival on the last weekend in May, but also for encore performances in the following weekends with David Guetta, Toten Hosen, their support act Bad Religion, and the musicians of Fury in the Slaughterhouse.
“We made a deliberate decision to go with K1 from L’Acoustics because it’s the world’s most sought-after sound system and we had to cater to the wishes of various artists at the Expo Plaza,” says satis&fy audio engineer Rainer Clasani.
The main PA deployed by satis&fy featured 12 K1 units and dV-Dosc bins flown below the K1 arrays. Another six 6 K1 SB bins were flown behind the main PA to boost the low mids all they way across the long throw distance. Another 32 SB28 cabinets were distributed across the full width of the stage—some configured in an end-fire array for enhanced SPL across the board. An out-fill consisting of 12 Kudos was flown on each side to provide uniform coverage for the full stretch of the very wide plaza. Two delay lines with 15 dV-Dosc units, backed by three flown dV subs, rounded out the system and catapulted the audio image to the ears of the audience at the far reaches of the venue’s huge expanse.
